Top of the New Year to you!

As you know, the flu season is in full swing. Remember that your flu shot is manufactured in the spring when researchers try to determine which of as many as one hundred strains will rear its ugly head the following winter. Remember, these viruses are constantly mutating so the effectiveness of the shot is a question mark at best. Did you know that less than half of the public is interested in getting a flu shot and less than a third of health care workers get vaccinated. Either way, the numbers don’t set well with the pharmaceutical companies.

This past holiday season, I caught a bug and was in bed for five days with a fever, cough and congestion. For the past 10 months, my wife has participated in a beta test for a product called Karl’s Formula. I have been ill twice during that timeframe and she has not even had a sniffle. I started using Karl’s Formula in January and plan on using it regularly. I had another example of how this formula can help ward off illness when I felt a cold coming on the other day. I used the formula and by the next morning I had no symptoms remaining. This product will be available to the public soon at Associate MTs.

News… A recent study of 75 men and women already diagnosed with arthritis in their knees has shown that walking barefoot reduced the load on their knees by nearly 12% compared to walking in ordinary street shoes according to Rush Medical College in Chicago. People with neuropathy in their feet should be extra cautious about walking barefoot.

More news… Recently researchers took blood samples and pressure readings in 1,717 8th grade students in Texas, California, and North Carolina. Almost a quarter of them had high blood pressure. Almost 20% were at risk of being overweight and about 17% had high total cholesterol levels. Keep in mind that these were 14 year olds.

Last, but not least… Cholesterol is a modified fat called a sterol. It is actually more like a wax than a fat or oil which gives it special properties. Most cholesterol is manufactured by your liver. The more you work at eliminating cholesterol, the harder your liver and other body systems work at bringing it up to its average. There has not been a single controlled study that shows lowering cholesterol on its own saves lives.
